Carleton Varney: Carleton Varney is one of America’s best-known interior designers and president/owner of Dorothy Draper & Co. Inc., one of the oldest continually operating interior design firms in the United States. Named after the founder of the company- Dorothy Draper, who was the doyenne of interior design from the 1920’s to the 1960’s. The company’s design philosophy stresses the use of bright colors and the rejection of all that is impractical, uncomfortable and drab. In embracing this practice Carleton Varney continues the tradition of Dorothy Draper by being associated with the adventurous use of vibrant colors, floral patterns, and bold contrasts. Mr. Varney’s impressive roster of clients includes superstars from the worlds of entertainment, fashion, and business.
Dorothy Daper: Dorothy Draper & Company is America’s first and most acclaimed design firm. Since 1925, we have been creating design for interiors, furnishings, fabrics and accessories that excite and delight. Dorothy Draper, was the first to professionalize interior design as a profession and her work continues to inspire today. She is the only interior designer to have had a major, solo museum retrospective of her work, receiving over 1 million visitors in 2006.
about the project
When I first started working with Carleton Varney and Dorothy Draper as their Social Media Marketing Director, the challenge was to develop a marketing strategy for each brand that would allow them to evolve and capture a new audience without alienating its existing customers.
Through the creation of a new brand and visual identity, product development, content creation (weekly newsletter and blog posts) and some other strategies that I simply cannot share :) we increased engagement and following organically for both brands and most importantly we increased revenue by over 150%.
